CETIS: Interoperability Standards and Assessment

welcome

The use of computers in the assessment of student knowledge and learning is an increasingly popular solution in UK Further and Higher Education. The CETIS Assessment Special Interest Group (SIG) has been set up to monitor CAA-based interoperability initiatives for Further and Higher Education practitioners in the UK, ensuring that members are kept informed of activities in standards and specifications development and providing a forum for debate and the sharing of knowledge and experience. Both the SIG and CETIS as a whole are involved in ensuring that the requirements of these sectors are fed into international initiatives such as the IMS Global Learning Consortium. The group is coordinated by the department of Learning Services at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

The group holds quarterly meetings at venues around the UK, providing participants with the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in standards and specifications, to see examples of QTI implementation in action, and network with other practitioners. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 27 June 2006 at the University of Wales Bangor, and will focus on accessible assessment.

There is also a JISCMAIL discussion forum which you can join in order to keep informed of developments in interoperability for assessment.
